Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or just looking for plant-based options, here are the best vegan restaurants throughout Baltimore City. From breakfast to lunch, dinner to snacking, there are options for everyone. Here are my favorite go-to spots.
Liquid Earth
1626 Aliceanna Street
This vegan cafe is found in Fells Point. They are best known for their marinated tofu and assorted vegetable sandwiches. This cafe offers special juices, smoothies, and even soups on the go. My favorite part is they have over 50 different juice blends so you can be sure there will be something for you. They are open from Wednesday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Their motto is “serving to be an innovator in vegetarian, vegan, raw and living foods”. You can be sure anything you order will be delicious since they have been open since 1996 and have tons of experience before the vegan industry boomed. I would recommend the soup and salad combo for only $8.95. This is a great alternative to Panera Bread but definitely healthier and made with fresh ingredients. You can pick any two of their soups/salads which makes it super customizable.
Gangster Vegan
1065 S Charles Street
This vegan eatery is located in the Cross Street Market where they serve raw vegan food and desserts. It is a black-owned business established in 2019. None of their dishes include soy or gluten which is another great option for people who have an immune reaction to eating gluten or soy. They are known for their “toona salad” and create your own bowl. Their influence behind opening their business is the culture that glorifies gangsters, violence, and drug dealing. They want people to feel by eating healthy they can also make it “gangster”. My favorite things to get are the wellness shots that are filled with nutrients and vitamins to help build your immune system. Another recommendation is their taco salad. When you're in the mood for tacos or anything mexican but are trying to stay healthy and have a low carb, vegan, and low sodium option, this is a great alternative. This retails for $13 which isn’t too expensive compared to Chipotle, a college favorite.
Stem Farm and Kitchen
301 W 29th Street
This restaurant has been located in the R. House food hall since the summer of 2016. This restaurant is the most unique because they put a vegan twist on European style food. They also have gluten-free options which is another plus! People tend to go here because they get their ingredients from a biodynamic farm in Baltimore along with their very own Urban Growing Operations. They rebranded this year, previously known as ‘Stall 11’. My favorite dish is the Korean tempura cauliflower. It sells for $15 dollars which is a bit pricey but they do serve you a good amount of food. If you want a smaller size you are able to get a side which sells for $13 dollars. This place is definitely more expensive but you cannot beat the quality and the portion sizes.
